david_wayDavid Way has joined NeoKitsch to collaborate in a musical project.

David Way studied violin with Detlef Hahn on a scholarship at the Guildhall School of Music, London. As a student he formed the Hill Quartet, which appeared at the Cambridge Festival, and he was leader of the Westminster Camerata, collaborating with them as soloist in Bach’s Fourth Brandenburg Concerto.On graduating, he joined the first violin section of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. In Norway he worked as alternating principal second violin in Stavanger and Trondheim. In Spain, he has worked as guest leader of the Real Filharmonica de Galicia. Recent recital appearances have included Radcliffe Observatory, National Opera Studio, Open University, Santa Maria della Scala (Siena) and the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer. He has also performed many of the famous violin concertos with orchestra. In September 2007, he gave a recital for Paganini’s 225th birthday, at the Westgate Chapel, Lewes.

David joined NeoKitsch on an adventure in discovering new music, exploring fusion genres and playing with otherworldly instruments. 

NeoKitsch is looking at producing another album in 2010 to launch the beginning of the new directions of the studio’s musical projects with David’s collaboration.

NeoKitsch is very proud to have re-released the world premier recordings of the complete works for violin and piano by Karol Szymanowski with musicians Detlef Hahn (Violin) and Mark Fielding (Piano).

Among the pieces on the album are the three very popular arrangements of the Paganini Caprices. An extract of Szymanowski’s arrangement of Paganini’s 24th Caprice can be heard below.

TEACHING

Detlef Hahn enjoys a world-wide reputation as a teacher, which has led to invitations to give Masterclasses and recitals, ranging from Europe to the Far East and Australia. He is Professor and Honorary Fellow at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and holds a professorship at the Oslo State Academy and the Hochschule der Kuenste in Bern. He draws some of the finest talents from all over the world to study with him at these renowned institutions, many of them going on to become prize winners and finalists in international competitions. Detlef Hahn’s individual style of teaching, incorporating an unusual combination of musical and physical elements, is regarded by many musicians as unique in violin teaching. Inspired by his dynamic approach, many of his students are highly regarded within the musical world, be it as soloists, chamber players, teachers or orchestra musicians.
