Danny Hahn

Composer and Sound Designer, Director of NeoKitsch, the online multi-arts centre.

Summary

Recently turned film director, Danny Hahn is a British born Composer, Sound Designer and Arts Manager.

“I run NeoKitsch, the ‘online multi-arts centre’ and its production studio. My colleagues are a growing team of creative professionals. Together, we set the bar for standards in art and entertainment – online and at festivals. The output of work over the last year alone has produced the likes of symphonic works, feature films, art exhibitions, concerts, philosophy books, animations, documentaries and several music albums.

My specialist field is in sound design and musical composition for feature film. Due for release in cinemas worldwide is the film And White Was The Night, in which I collaborated closely with the director. Having taught film studies and screenplay writing for over a decade at various colleges and institutions, I consequently combine the intricate principles of story with my music composition.

Recently I worked for 8 months on a large budget feature film as Composer and Sound Designer for Finnish director, Mika Rantonen and the company Uphill Films. I was responsible for delivering and managing all aspects of audio, including voice-over dubbing, Foley, location recording and mastering. Currently, I am representing the film and my work on NeoKitsch and at various film festivals, including Berlinale and Cannes. Please visit the NeoKitsch Blog for updates on release dates, distribution and festivals.

2012 will be an exciting development in my career, where I will work abroad and at the NeoKitsch studio with my team on two new feature films, collaborating with orchestras, directors and international festivals. Details to follow with regular updates on www.neokitsch.com

A Walk with Love and Death (John Huston 1969) Film Review

Something just didn't feel right throughout the film. I felt shallow to blame this slight disappointment on technical qualities, which, although Huston's professionalism ought seldom be challenged, had perhaps too simple sound design, poor acting, and lacked visual interest. So I found myself in search of a remedy to restore [more]

Danny's top 100 films of all time

I decided to make the very brave and shameless decision, to reveal my favourite films of all time, in the vulgar and fashionable 'list' format.
